How to do Keyword Research for E-Commerce

Learn how to do keyword research for your e-commerce store while sticking to free tools

Our promise to you

Finding the right keywords for your e-commerce store doesn't have to be hard.

We'll show you a method that even someone with no SEO experience can do and we'll stick to free tools.

Our goal is to give you a (easy-to-use) system that you can use for any topic in your niche and create topical authority.

What is topical authority?

Topical authority means that Google values your expertise on a specific topic.

As a result:

Google will rank you higher -> more people find your store -> more revenue

1. Copy your website's content

First go to you store's homepage and copy the content.

Very simple, just drag your mouse across the whole page and copy it with CMD+C or Control+C.

2. Generate keyword ideas with ChatGPT

Next keep the content in your clipboard and open up ChatGPT.

Paste it in and above the content paste this prompt:

Do keyword research for the following and give me a list of 100 keyword ideas:

Here's a video just in case:

Now we have some ideas but we won't use most of them.

3. Pick the broadest keyword for your niche

Take a look through the whole list and pick the broadest keyword you see for your niche.

To give you an example, we picked: Amsterdam Streetwear Brands

As you can see this is a very broad keyword, doesn't contain brand names or anything specific.

This is perfect for us because we want to create topical authority.

4. Find all questions for the topic we just picked

To build topical authority you need to answer all questions that people have.

There's a great free tool for that is called AlsoAsked.

Go to the website, paste in the topic and it'll give you a list of the questions.

Now you have all of the questions that will serve as our keywords when building out our blog.

5. Start building out your blog

All it takes is to start writing those blog posts for these questions.

If you consistently pump out content and answer all of the questions people have, Google will naturally rank you higher.

Creating content is hard so consider checking out The best ChatGPT workflow for blogging to automate this process with AI.

Keyword research wasn't so hard right?

Too many people try to overcomplicate this process.

But it's really just about finding what are some questions people frequently ask and answering those in your blog.
